There are ways to deal with spammers, other than crippling the lists
by closing them.

If you see a list spam from a company in your country, _call_ them, over
the _phone_.  Tell them they're doing wrong.  This will have quite an
impact on companies, as spamming is cheap but phones are costly to man.

Or send them a fax.  After reading ten miles of fax messages, they might
think twice next time.

We're a lot of people on these lists, and I find it hard to belive that
we can't convince a few companies that _not_ spamming us is a lot better
bargin for all.

Besides, I think we get relatively little spam.  You can usually tell
by the subject line, and the ``d'' key is not that far away.
