Is it possible to boot from a raid 0 array using linux 2.3.99-pre3?

I followed the Software-Raid-HOWTO and the array works o.k. until I
try to boot from it.

I created a seperate /boot non-raid. I update the /etc/lilo.conf per
the instructions to point the root file system to the raid device.

After booting, the raid device initializes, but then I get errors
that say something about a block device.

I am using a promise UDMA controller in conjunction with a EPOX k7 MB.
I am using the experimental promise driver, so I do not know if I am
doing something incorrectly or if I have run into a bug.

does anyone know if booting from a raid 0 parititon should cause me
any problems using 2.3.99-pre3?

Thanks,
Kirk
