Sorry, I meant 'raidhotadd /dev/md[012] /dev/hdc[456]'

Hmmm..... I've seen this statement many times and must assume it is
only partly true. It is very difficult to follow this rule with root
mounted raid. I have changed the partition type many times on many
systems from 83 to FD and back again followed by a reboot without any
difficulty. Am I missing something here.
OK, I confess to just spouting the words from <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>'s
Software-RAID HOWTO:
"NOTE: Be sure that your RAID is NOT RUNNING before changing the
partition types. Use raidstop /dev/md0 to stop the device."
As you say, it's awkward for a root array.
