That's just it - these drives do not have an partitions set to fd. I'm trying to use fdisk precisely so that I may give them partitions. Right now, they don't even have any partitions set on them. My last resort will be to compile a new kernel without RAID support and just partition and format them that way. I was just hoping that there would be an easier way. Harry
