2.4.0 autodetect patch

Hi All,
        I'm told there is a patch by Kenneth Johansson that allows
2.4.0 kernels to detect raid partitions within an extended partition
and it was posted to this list a few weeks ago. Could someone send
me the patch as I was not on this list before last week. Better still
would be a pointer to the linux-raid archives - I can't find them even
if they do exist. Many thanks.
