Hello all and mr Axboe, I reported problems with the Ultraplex 40 SCSI cdrom-drive earlier, but now I discovered (I use kernel 2.4.2 symbios sym53c8xx) that my cd-rom drive became useless. Mounting iso-fs is poaaible but that's all. Can't play wav's from mounted cdfs, can't play video-cd's.. it complains about : Feb 26 06:41:02 atx kernel: sr0: CDROM (ioctl) reports ILLEGALctl failed: -95 Feb 26 06:41:02 atx kernel: sr0: CDROM (ioctl) reports ILLEGAL REQUEST. sr0 is my ultraplex Plextor cd-rom device. Another device, a mitsumi SCSI CD-R drive works fine.... it can do all the things the Ultraplex won't. I know that this problem is known by some developers, but why can't this be solved.... I'm not that familiar with Linux drivers (I am a not so good C programmer). I tried some patches, but it doesn't solve the problem.. it confuses my SCSI bus..... Hoping that someone can help me any further... thanks in advance...
