I would second that and Adaptec deserves some praise for this.

Adaptec's/Justin Gibb's new aic7xxx driver solves 
a lot of problems we've encountered both on newer motherboards (Intel 
in particular) and error handling in the scsi midlayer. I've pretty
much wrapped up my qualification of it. That included extensive testing 
using cerberus on all of our systems with embedded SCSI and PCI HBA SCSI 
with SCSI drives, tape, and a few tape libraries. 

Life is better now.
