I am not a specialist but I may have perhaps a few hints for you.

According to your email, it seems that you have forgotten to test
 0x140,9,7,1,1 .

Otherwise, may be your card does not like the synchronous mode of the
driver. I had that problem with some version of linux 2.4.0-test and a
SoundBlaster 16 SCSI-II.
Therefore you should test: 0x140,9,7,1,1,0 or 0x140,9,7,0,0,0

If you want more help, I suppose that you should perhaps email what is
displayed at boot or in your syslog when the driver is loaded.

A few other questions:
- what version of linux is in Mandrake 7.2?
- do you have other SCSI controllers? Do they work correctly?
- if the aha152x driver is a module in Mandrake 7.2, try to load it by hand
with modprobe. What is the output? What is in the syslog?
Also try to force parameters (for example: modprobe aha152x
aha152x=0x140,9,7,1,1,0 ) Output? Syslog?
- is the AVA-1502E a PNP (Plug&Play) card? If yes, try to put it in non-PNP
mode and test again.

Have a nice day/evening/night!

Dear All,

I am tryuing to set up my SCSI card to use in Mandrake 7.2 box. However,
I am not having success in my task. This card is working well at Win98
having a CD-R attached to it.

Windows98
Adaptec AHA-150x
I/O range 0140-015F
IRQ 09

I have tried the following when installing the Mandrake 7.2 box
AHA152X1 (1-8i) 0x140,10,7,1,1
AHA152X (1-8i) 0x140,10,7,1,1

After checking the SCSI information tool at Windows98 I realized that my
CDR is under 0 and my SCSI card 7. Then I tried that sort of
configuration:

AHA152X1 (1-8i) 0x140,9,7,0,0
AHA152X (1-8i) 0x140,9,7,0,0

Some noise is made by the CDR when attempting the last configuration.
But still have a failure to recognise that card.

Any comments are more than welcomed!!!

Alberto
