Anyone know what the problem could be here? root# mkfs.msdos -F 32 -I /dev/scd1 mkfs.msdos: unable to get drive geometry for '/dev/scd1' mkfs.msdos 2.2 (06 Jul 1999) scd1 is a DVD-RAM drive. What's weird is it doesn't happen in all cases. Also, creating a ext2 fs on that device works just fine.
