Hi,

I've got a lot of problems with an ACARD SCSI Controller and the atp870u driver.

It is impossible to install linux (Mandrake 8.0). The installation prozess starts and
then it hangs... after a few copied MBs.
I installed the system by using an IDE CDROM and loaded the modul manually. It seemed
to work but every use of the scsi system, for example copying files from cd to
harddisk, ends in a compete hang of the system.
This only happens with data amounts of 50MBs and above...havent found the "critical"
mass.

In Mandrake 7.2 the atp870u worked ok. Well, there was that nasty INQUIRRY stuff, but
it worked. With the Kernel 2.4.3 there is no use of the atp870u driver.

Is there a solution available or planned? Is the sourcecode of the driver under gpl or
is it a good idea to contact acard?

Bye

JD
