A Tekram DC-390U (53C875) is no difficulty here, VIA Apollo MVP3 on PC
Chips M577 and Tyan Trinity 100AT S1590B.

No difficulty with NT 4, Win 95, Linux 2.0, Linux 2.1.

How many devices are there? If you have an ultra device, you MUST!!!!
use active termination, regardless if any of the targets is ultra or
not. Reasons are deeply buried in electromagnetic compatibility; the
chip itself generates sharp and steep edges which contain high
frequency components by nature. A failure to take care of these - which
is achieved by ultra-SCSI-safe cabling and active termination - will
definitely lead to problems of all kinds. Limits are: 3 m up to 4
devices, 1.5 m with 5 to 8 devices.

Once again, make sure you have ACTIVE termination and meed ultra SCSI
requirements even when you don't have a single ultra device besides the
adaptor. Make sure to reduce the effects of interference, i. e. do not
tie the SCSI cable to an IDE cable and so on.
