I have been unable to boot with or load as a module the eata_dma driver on the 2.0.36 kernel using a DPT PM3334UW controller. Booting with eata_dma support compiled direcly into the kernal causes the boot to hang right after the Adaptec 2940UW is recognized. When I compile eata_dma as a module and then attempt an insmod, I get something like: Hba at 0xef50 does not react to INQUIRY command, sorry scsi: 0 hosts and then system freezes cold. I found almost the same error here: http://www.dejanews.com/getdoc.xp?AN=426938284. The HBA address is the only difference in the error report on my system. I do not believe there is a conflict between the DPT and Adaptec controllers. I am running the most recent revision of the Adaptec driver and have been searching for the newest eata_dma driver. The eata_dma.c I am using has a last change date of 96/10/21. If there is a newer one, I have not been able to find it. This is an SMP system, but attempts to boot with kernels compiled with the eata_dma driver in both single and multiple cpu configurations have failed. I would appreciate any help anyone might be able to offer. Please cc my email acct directly in any responses. Thanks in advance! -Marc - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-scsi" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
