To find out what was to blame for RH 5.2 failing to install, and because I
bought the IPX to learn more about Solaris anyway, I installed Solaris 7
on it yesterday. Solaris installed on exactly the same hardware with no
complaints, and I compiled a bunch of stuff on it without any problems.

So...are there known problems in the 2.0.35 kernel RedHat shipped with 5.2
for Sparc? Each time the install bombed, if I switched to console 5,
there were lots of ext2fs errors. It seems as though that kernel didn't
like my external SCSI drive, but Solaris installed on it just fine.
It's kind of funny that Solaris kept the disklabel Linux put on the drive:

sd2 is /sbus@1,f8000000/esp@0,800000/sd@2,0
        <Linux custom cyl 1014 alt 2 hd 93 sec 62>
