i've just bought this card and it's not working in Linux. In windows it
works fine (typical!).
When i boot my PC it displays my graphics card's info (Matrox Mystique 220 +
rainbow Runner), then my normal BIOS/CMOS/ram check screen, then the
SCSI card's bios displays itself and prompts me to press ^A to enter the
setup program, if i leave it it'll detect all the devices on my scsi bus
(i have a Traxdata CDR 4120EL PRO cd writer at scsi id 0, the card is id 7)
but then it displays this:
SCSI BIOS Not Loaded!
and then the machine carries on and boots. I have told the card to load the
bios (the card's Irq is 7 and it's base addr. is 0x6800).
My kernel is 2.0.36 and i compiled the fdomain scsi driver into my kernel,
passing this when at the lilo prompt:
fdomain=0x6800,7,7,1
when the kernel boots i get:
scsi: 0 hosts
and a message from the fdomain driver saying it can't find the card at
0x6800 which makes sense since the card couldn't load the bios into ram
at that address.
Is this just a badly configured system, or is the card knackered? It's
got Bios v1.32 on it.
is there a way of making the card use some other address? i can force the
card into any irq in my system by assigning an irq to the pci slot it's
in...
I have these cards in my system:
Matrox Mystique 220 + Rainbow Runner daughter board (PCI)
Orchid Righteous Voodoo 1 (PCI)
Adaptec 2920 scsi card (PCI)
3com 3c509
Gravis ultrasound PnP
i've tried running my system with just the scsi and graphics cards in
and it still won't load the bios into ram
and yes, i've read the SCSI-Howto and the comments at the top of the
fdomain.c driver, they just say kernel parameters need passing.
