Hi!
I have a Acard AEC6710S scsi-3 PCI and on that a cd burner. It all
works in windows 95 and with the complied linux kernel v2.0.0 that
you can download at acard's site. Pretty soon after I got that
scsi card and the burner version 2.2.0 of the kernel was released.
And the acard scsi support was included, so I never tested to attach
the c sources of the acard drivers found on acards site to version
2.0.x , because I hoped that it would work fine with the new kernel.
But it doesn't. On boottime it shows always an error message(see below)
and the linux locks up there. (No matter if you wait for hours.)
When the acard support is included in the kernel.
I have attached the error message the 2.2.7 kernel gives and what
the precomplied kernel from acard's site says.
On boot time Linux 2.2.7 says this: (Version 2.2.0-to maybe 2.2.4 didn't
found the scsi card at all.)

(I wrote this off, so it can be a miss type, even if I have checked
twice.)
And then linux stops.
This says the precompiled kernel v2.0.0, which works:
(or dmesg says)

That computer is a Dell Dimension XPS D300 (I tell you this because then
if you need to know more about it, you can maybe look at Dell's site.
Otherwise, just ask me.) which has no second serial port, therefore
IRQ 3 is free. The only extra equitment in this computer is a 3c509
isa net card, on IRQ 10, port: 300
That computers run's Red Hat 5.2.
Well, just ask me if you need anymore information. Or to test anything.
If it's me, that is wrong I would greatly appreachate any help.
