whenever i try to copy a large file (>50megs) to my 2gig jaz i get something like: May 12 17:07:27 resnet-17-234 kernel: scsi : aborting command due to timeout : pid 33713, scsi0, channel 0, id 5, lun 0 0x2a 00 00 3a 79 71 00 00 f4 00 and the scsi bus resets. itll keep on doing this until i hit reset. i have an adaptec 2940u2w, and on my ultra/fast segment i have the jaz (ext), a fujitsu 1gig and plextor 6plex (int). both ends are terminated. on the u2/lvd segment i have an ibm ultrastar 9es. i think this problem has more to do with hardware because the same symptoms occur in win98 and win2k (win2k's event logger says 'the host adapter did not respond in the specified time'). also if i copy the same file from my 9es to the fujitsu it works fine. i have tried 3 different cartridges (1 and 2gigs) and did a surface test of one of the cartridges i used. all of my cartridges are fat32 but iirc it happened when they were fat16 too. -- "I used to rock and roll all night and party every day. Then it was every other day. Now I'm lucky if I can find half an hour a week in which to get funky." --Homer - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-scsi" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
