Hi

I think the problem belongs to the termination of the bus, because the
termination of the controller
will not work, if the computer is powered off (electrical termination).
My advice: take a short cable and a terminator, connect the cable to the
internal connector of the 
controller and try again; I think power off the one computer will not
affect the throughput (electrical)
of the bus.
