Problem with smp and scsi

Hi!   I use Adaptec AHA2940AU as scsi-controller card. When I activate SMP-support in my kernel (I use 2.2.10 now, but have also tried 2.2.12 and 2.3.17), my computer refuses to boot. I use SuSE 6.2, and has dual Celeron 366Mhz with Abit BP6.   It says that i have dual prosessors, but!   The error msg is something like this: It detects the SCSI card, and says that it detects that autotermination is on and so on...1 scsi host found comes up, and...   It does not find the scsi devices.
