Jep. As I wrote in my original mail it runs just fine with mpar:n.

I just reproduced the problem with stock 2.2.12 and its v 1.3g of
sym53c8xx. The kernel log is attached at the end of this mail.
Unforunately I haven't yet found a way to capture the output from
version 1.5d of neither 2.2.9 nor 2.2.12 and also 1.5e of 2.3.18ac8.
It's just resetting the channel so fast that no other process
including klogd and syslogd get a chance to do anything. Is there any
way to make the driver try it only once and then give up?
