Hi to all, Has anyone noticed that the adaptec aha152x module has extremely slow disk accesses under linux 2.2.x? I tried it with 2.2.5 (the redhat stock kernel) 2.2.12 (stock both as a module and compiled in) with very slow accesses E.g. # hdparm -Tt /dev/sda /dev/sda: Timing buffer-cache reads: 64 MB in 0.77 seconds =83.12 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 32 MB in 39.16 seconds = 0.82 MB/sec # cat /proc/scsi/scsi Attached devices: Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00 Vendor: QUANTUM Model: FIREBALL ST3.2S Rev: 0F0C Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02 Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 02 Lun: 00 Vendor: DEC Model: TZK10 Rev: 03C1 Type: Sequential-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02 # cat /proc/scsi/aha152x/0 Adaptec 152x SCSI driver; $Revision: 1.7 $ ioports 0x0340 to 0x035f interrupt 0x0b disconnection/reconnection enabled parity checking enabled synchronous transfers disabled 1 commands currently queued enabled debugging options: (abort) (reset) queue status: no not yet issued commands no current command disconnected commands: 0xc1e01a00: target=0; lun=0; cmnd=( 0x0a 0x07 0xf0 0x0c 0x04 0x00 ); residual=10 24; buffers=1; phase |disconnected|send_ident|; in other(MESSAGE IN); phaseend; next=0x00000000 waiting: SCSISEQ (RESELI ); SCSISIG (DATA OUT); INTSTAT (lo); SSTAT (SWRAP BUSFR EE PHASECHG ); SSTAT (); SXFRCTL0 (CH1 ); SIGNAL (); SELID (81), SSTAT2 (SEMPTY ); SFCNT (0); SCSICNT (0), OFFCNT(0), SSTAT4 (); DMACNTRL0 (16BIT PIO WRITE INTE N ); DMASTAT (WORDRDY DFIFOEMP ) enabled interrupts (ENSELDI ) # uname -a Linux socrates 2.2.5-15 #1 Mon Apr 19 23:00:46 EDT 1999 i686 unknown Under 2.0.x it is: # uname -a Linux hera.eparxia-p.fage.gr 2.0.34 #1 Fri May 8 16:05:57 EDT 1998 i686 unknown # /sbin/hdparm -Tt /dev/sda /dev/sda: Timing buffer-cache reads: 64 MB in 0.78 seconds =82.05 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 32 MB in 18.81 seconds = 1.70 MB/sec # cat /proc/scsi/scsi Attached devices: Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00 Vendor: SEAGATE Model: ST34520N Rev: 1444 Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02 Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 02 Lun: 00 Vendor: TANDBERG Model: TDC 3800 Rev: =08: Type: Sequential-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02 # cat /proc/scsi/aha152x/0 Adaptec 152x SCSI driver; $Revision: 1.18 $ ioports 0x0340 to 0x035f interrupt 0x0b disconnection/reconnection enabled parity checking enabled synchronous transfers disabled 0 commands currently queued enabled debugging options: (abort) (reset) queue status: no not yet issued commands no current command no disconnected commands waiting: SCSISEQ (); SCSISIG (DATA OUT); INTSTAT (lo); SSTAT (SWRAP BUSFREE PHASECHG ); SSTAT (); SXFRCTL0 (CH1 ); SIGNAL (); SELID (81), SSTAT2 (SEMPTY ); SFCNT (0); SCSICNT (0), OFFCNT(0), SSTAT4 (); DMACNTRL0 (16BIT PIO READ INTEN ); DMASTAT (DFIFOEMP ) enabled interrupts () Any ideas?
