Hi

I'm trying to run linux 2.2.12 (redhat 6.1) on Dell laptop Latitude XPi P75.
I spend days to configure this system with no CDROM on board (nfs,
XF86Configure modeline ..) and now every things is Ok.
The last problem I have comes with TMC 9C50/950 port replicator.
As the name implies, it should use a TMC 950 card with an AIC 6360 chip (as
dell info).

In seagate.c, I added

  {"Future Domain Corp. V1.0008/18/93", 5, 33, FD},

for automatic startup detection (I used DOS debug to find this string). This
works well at startup and my connected devices such as CDROM or DAT are
correctly detected.

base addr: 0xde000 and irq=5 which are the good values for the board.

But, when I try to mount a cdrom or use my 4mm HT DAT, system enters a no
end loop without complaining. I still have control on another console but
process (like tar) can't be killed. Launching the unmodified driver from
linux boot using:

Lilo: linux tmc8xx=0xde000,5 has exaclty the same effect.

SLOW_RATE=50 is not better

Compiling this module with -DDEBUG=65535, I got (my DAT is at SCSI ID=5):

# tar tvf /dev/st0
scsi0: transfered += 12
scsi0: transfered -= 0
scsi0 : phase = STATUS IN
scsi0 : phase = MESSAGE IN
scsi0 : command complete.
scsi0 : Transfered 12 bytes
scsi0 : status = Good message = 00
seagate: que_commandscsi0 : target = 5, command = Read (6) 00 00 28 00 00
scsi0 : allowed to reconnect
scsi0 : phase = BUS FREE
scsi0 : phase = SELECTION
scsi0 : arbitration complete
scsi0 : scatter gather not requested.
scsi0 : len = 10240
scsi0 : phase = INFORMATION TRANSFER
scsi0 : phase = MESSAGE OUT
scsi0 : sent IDENTIFY message.
scsi0 : phase = COMMAND OUT
scsi0 : phase = MESSAGE IN
seagate: deciding to disconnect
scsi0 : disconnected.
scsi0 : Transfered 0 bytes
scsi0 : status = Good message = 04
scsi0 : exiting seagate_st0x_queue_command()with reconnect enabled.
... endless message repeated after a 5mn or so

**** I'm lost!

I'm little bit confused with all seagate.c options, your help is welcome.
I'm ready to switch to 2.3.28 kernel if it helps me but, reading the new
source code, I'm not sure it's the right solution.
