I haven't done enough with the 2.3 kernel to know for sure. But, I do know
that the report you give here has too many variables to be usefull. You need
to narrow down the issues somewhat. For example, you need to be running the
same version of sane under both versions of the kernel or else we can't rule
out that maybe the yesterday-cvs version of sane is slow.
