The shortcomings that I'm aware of:
a) Limited # of SCSI storage devices that can be attached to a Linux
box,
b) Failure of the SCSI mid-layer to pass all of the SENSE data back to
the upper layers. (Chops off the SENSE data at 16 bytes -- leaving off
the 17th and 18th bytes, which are the most important bytes of all if
you're trying to figure out why your SCSI command failed!).
The latter, at least, is being addressed in the 2.4 kernel. Not being
particularly familiar with the 2.3 development kernels, I'm not sure
what is happening regarding problem (a).
