I have a Fuijitsu 2512 MOD which I used to use on an old system (AHA1742
and linux 2.0.13).
The MOD signals media change with a check condition and Unit attention and
this works well on 2.0.13. It seems the same code is in 2.2 but I have
massive problems in 2.2.13 and 2.2.14.
The disk is detected as removable too. After some tries it seems that:
After a reboot (disk was in drive) the first media change is detected.
Others are not.
If I do a remove/add single-device. The next two media changes are
detected.
If I attempt a mount w/o a disk (to force a not ready), the media is
considered changed on the next mount. Further changes are not detected.
All this seems pretty reproducible.
As remove/add single device cures it, I assume the problem is not in the
AHA driver not reporting back the check condition. The problem seems
elsewhere. As a force of a not ready makes it detect a media change, I
assume it is not that the removable flag is omitted. As the MOD works
still on the older 2.0.13 system, I assume the problem is not the disk.
Please advise & remark. Is this a known problem? Anyone with experince on
2.2 and removable scsidevices and the AHA?
Thanks in advance,
Michael.
