Hmmm... If you are not sure that the actual SCSI parameters values and
SCSI features actually used are the same on the both systems, then your
assumption is not valid. Could you check that?
For example, the aic7xxx driver may default to no tagged commands, while
the sym53c8xx driver default to tagged commands if the device claims
support for this feature.
Btw, I would get a lot more informed if you sent me accurate informations
about your system and config. Minimal could be the kernel messages at boot
for the system using the 294X and for the one that uses the 875.
