Hello!

I use an Adaptec 2940UW (AHA7881U) and an Adaptec 2904E (AHA7850, rev3).

Connected with the 2940UW is
- one CDROM (Plextor PX32TSi)
- one CD recorder (Plextor PX612Ci 4x)

Connected with the 2904E is
- one Olympus PowerMO 230 (recognized as sda)

With kernel 2.4.0test1, I can mount /dev/sda without problems, but
with kernel 2.4.0test2, a mount leads to:

/dev/sda has wrong major or minor number

Mounting my SCSI cdrom (/dev/scd0) is no problem in both cases, only
the SCSI disk device doesn't work.

Access rights are

brw-rw---- root disk /dev/sda
(block major 8, minor 0)

(I am member of group 'disk')

I use mount 2.10f, whereas in the 'Changes' file of 2.4.0test2, 2.10g is
required. I'll try mount-2.10m today, but in the HISTORY file of util-linux,
there is no clue about this problem.

I have experimented a bit with devfs, but in this case I have disabled
it with 'devfs=nodevfs', and a /dev/.devfs doesn't exist, so it really does
not run. With devfs, there are other problems, so that I don't get so far
as to mount the SCSI block device (a MO disk in superfloppy format).

Has anyone a clue about what is going on?

Thanks,
