For my Fujitsu MO I must use for the 640 MB snd the 1.3 GB 3.5" MOD 
the option -b 2048 
fdisk -b 2048 /dev/sdd

and also for the
mkfs.ext2 -b 2048 /dev/sd?

For the 128,230,540 MB 3.5" MOD I don't need this option because the size 
is 512

Without the -b 2048 I got also a kernel panic.
