Just to clarify a little bit more.  If it is an SCA drive, the drive
itself won't have a jumper, but the inclosure will.

Yeah, that is how I have mine, start on drive start command.  My RAID
controller doesn't send the drive start command to the hot spare, so my
spare doesn't get so hot.
