Take great care that the bus is terminated correctly at all times. In
particular some devices (Adaptec 2944UW in particular) uses termination
controlled by BIOS. Since BIOS determines what and when to terminate. No
power, no termination. Using shunts you can force termination.
As with any termination problem you will see bizarre and unpredictable
failures.
