The 0.1 second is part of the POSIX specification. That is the price
to pay for a multi-tasking system.
There is a Real-Time-HOWTO floating around. You might try debian.com
to see if that is where the LDP project is hiding the recent HOWTO's.
The current honcho's don't believe is posting them to
comp.os.linux.amswers like they should.
Also get my serial_suite.tgz and HOWTO-serial.tgz for information
about the care and feeding of Linux serial ports. You can get them
via ftp from scicom.alphacdc.com/pub/linux.
