Hmm. Do you know if this is a 'winmodem' i.e. DSP functions are implemented
in software, rather than hardware. As these modems require very complex and
special software to emulate the DSP chip that usually does the signal
processing. Most windmodems have either 'winmodem' HSP, DSP, or VSP written
on the box or in the documentation.

If you're farily certain it's not a winmodem, run a " lpsic -vv " and post
the output of the command to this mailing list. With the new serial drivers,
you can easily add support for PCI non-winmodems. (I've added support for my
4-port mac serial card) Unless your modem does something weird (like ttyS0
mapping to physical port 3, 2->4 3>1 4>2, and completely confusing you, or
some strange byte lane accesses), It should be very simple to add support.

The 'new' serial driver is here:

http://web.mit.edu/tytso/www/linux/serial/

The easiest way to install it is to make a module, best for testing as you
can try differnet revisions w/o re-doing the kernel.

Give me a shout if you need help,
