Take a look at /etc/printcap. There should be an rm:<hostname> entry for the
box that the printer is connected to, and the hostname should be known to
NIS or /etc/hosts or however you've set up your network. If this entry is
missing or wrong, lpd doesn't know what box the print request should go to.

I've setup a Linux NAT firewall box to do portforwarding, DHCP (192.168.1.x)
and DNS for my office network. I have aliased 2 IP addresses on the
external NIC card; 1 IP is for the website domain, 1 is for MX. The second
NIC is the default gateway for the Internal network (192.168.1.1). The
trouble I've having is accessing our company's website. The domain is
hosted on a W2k server with a private IP 192.168.1.10. When internal W98
DHCP clients try to access the website, the correct 'real' IP address shows
up in the status bar but the website just doesn't load. Trying the website
outside the office works just fine. I had to add a custom hosts file on the
W2k server to see the webpage, (i.e. 127.0.0.1 www.ourdomain.com). Do I
have to do this for every client or can something be done on the DNS server
to point them to 192.168.1.10? Right now the primary and secondary
nameservers are pointed to our ISP.

Can anyone help?

Subject: LS-120 Floppy Root Disk
Date: Tue, 15 Aug 2000 12:52:09 -0400

Hi:

This question probably has been asked many times, but anyway.........

In the beginning, before anything else has happened you usually start
with a boot
floppy and root floppy that were made form rawrite using a kernel image
(bare.i ..etc) and some kind of root image (color.gz .. etc).

The problem I am having is that I have a LS-120 floppy which really is
an IDE
device. The kernel will recognize this as /dev/hdb or /dev/hdc depending
on how many harddrives you have.

When you insert the boot floppy and start the computer it boots up and
stops
at the boot: prompt to allow you to add extra boot instructions. At this
point
you would think that you would add ..mount root=/dev/hdc and go on.

The problem is that the boot program does not stop to allow to put in
the root
floppy probably because it thinks it is a hard drive and is already
mounted.
The basic question is how do start from the beginning with floppies and
LS-120
drive. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

To get gf2 gts working you need:

XFree86 4.0.n - I am using 4.0.1
The Nvidia kernel and video drivers from the nvidia linux drivers
website.

Im afraid you probably wont be able to configure it using any of the
nice X setup tools around only xf86setup.
Anyways the Nvidia linux drivers FAQ and guide has the answers. Also the
default nvidia driver (nv.o) with Xfree86 4 doesnt support the gf2 so
dont bother with it use the latest nvidia one.

I don't know how good is the sendmail configuration part of linuxconf,
i've never used it.

The stock sendmail.cf file from RedHat 6.2 (sendmail-8.9.3) has already
support for virtual domains.

1# add both domains to the /etc/sendmail.cw file and configure your DNS
server.
2# /etc/rc.d/init.d/sendmail restart
3# cd /etc/mail
4# edit the virtusertable file.

The easiest way is to use a script to make a boot disk.
Check for scripts that come with your dist. I recommend
making a Lilo boot disk so you can pass params to it
if you need to. Look in the script to see if it creates a
lilo.conf file on the diskette. If it does, it's making a
lilo boot disk.

If you're not using all your swap now, then you will probably use
even less with more ram.. unless of course you load down with
more applications running concurrently. I'd try it with the same
swap partition. The nice thing about Linux is if you get stuck
for swap you can always make a swapfile until you decide if
you're going to always need the faster swapping of a partition.
Do you only have Linux on the system? I have Linux and Windows
and find adjusting partitions a breeze with Partition Magic 5.0
.

There may be some nondestructive repartitioning programs for Linux
but I'm not familiar with them.

Hi Manfred. Take a look at the howtos at:
www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO

There should be some stuff about your disk hardware
setup. You might have to pass some params to Lilo
so that the kernel can access the hd.

The first place I'd look is in the Large-Disk-HOWTO

It is doable. First, you must have a gcc that generates a good
code for sparc64. DaveM and JJ suggested me to use egcs-1.1.2
that RH ships. Best of all is to download SRPM from a Redhat
mirror and compile it.

Then, go into the top level Makefile and set prefixes to your
compiler. Then look at the clever macro that determines what
flags to use and ardwire the sparc64 case. Also hardwire ${ARCH}.

Your binutils must support v9 assembler mnemonics.

When all is set, just do "make oldconfig && make dep && make" as always.

Good luck,

The advantage of several partitions is also, that the inode density
can be varied.

To mention two extremes:
/usr may contain MB size files such as soffice (which I erased within
the 30 allotted days, I admit).
/var may contain thousands of 0.25 kB e-mails like these "Partition

All depending on your personeal needs of course.

Then the kernel Changes file and/or the 2.4.0-test6 code is broken. The
Changes file recommends version 3.1.13 and yet the headers in the source
are for 3.1.11. Do you know who to report this to - it's fairly
important as I am seeing pcmcia related failures wrt kapmd choking with

have the canonical setup before griping.

Did you run 'lilo' after you made changes to lilo.conf? Just changing the
