Linksys uses a module called 'tulip' . When you type the command 'lsmod' see
if 'tulip' is listed.

It seems that you need to configure your network settings. YOu can do this
by using linuxconf or your networking tools in Xwindows. Go to
www.linuxnewbie.org and read the NHFs on configuring networking. They even
have one on setting up networking with the Linksys LNE 100 card. Also, for
more info on networking see the ethernet howto and networking howto at
www.linuxdoc.org . They are very good sources for info.

I have the same problem with an ASUS A7V and an AMD TB. Since the system
can't be booted after installation, how the hell did you manage to recompile

Subject: IRQ problems
Date: Thu, 28 Sep 2000 13:10:24 GMT

Hi All,

have just installed some new cards into my linux box; a pci network
card that uses the via-rhine driver and a dreadful old generic isa
sound card that uses the mad16 driver. When I try and load the modules
I get "device or resource busy". I had irq conflicts between these
cards under windows (the machine is dual boot) but have now sorted them
out.
The BIOS reports that all the cards are using different IRQs. Isapnp
falls over when trying to assign an io address to the sound card, no
matter which suggested setup I use.
Neither card shows up under /proc/interrupts.
However the network card does show up under /proc/ioports.
>From where I'm standing it looks like I'll need to manually assign IRQs
etc to each card when I load its driver. How do I do that?
If there is another option please tell me!

It varies between distros. For example Mandrake uses runlevel 3 as
the full multiuser runlevel without X and 5 as the full multiuser
runlevel with X.

SuSE 7.0 (that I'm running at the moment) uses 3 for full multiuser with
X.

The various runlevels should be documented in the file /etc/inittab
in the comment section before the
id:<no>:initdefault:
line.

In a cell, the Nucleus acts like a library, in that it holds the entire
collection of "installable features" for a cell. The purpose of a
Nucleus is to entirely separate and protect this library from the rest
of the cell.

The Nucleus is only a feature of Eukaryotes. Prokaryotes such as
bacteria don't have a Nucleus. So while in Eukaryotes transcription
must be entirely complete prior to transcription, in Prokaryotes
transcription and translation can occur at the same time. The nucleus
prevents translation until transcription is complete in Eukaryotes.

I think you might be posting your query to the wrong group, saving the
worthies here. Its a Win95 problem.

There are many files that are designated read-only and you can check
these hundreds by selecting properties from a right click in windows
explorer. It is not a good idea to meddle with these unless you know
what you're at.

This may not be a file problem however. Try closing down every
application and background running proggie before defragging if you have
not already done so.

Use ctrl+alt=del to bring up the close program dialogue box and close
down everything except explorer. This may do it.

In addition, post to the relevant groups on the Microsoft Nesw Server
msnews.microsoft.com. If your ISPs server doesn't support this server
get them to to support it! Mail them. There should be many Win95 groups
on your own ISP. Just type in "95" [without the quotation marks] into
youyr Newsreaders search facility to bring them up. Some relevant groups
are;

alt.os.windows95
alt.os.windows95
comp.os.ms-windows.win95.*
microsoft.public.win95.*

* = families of groups.

Finally here are many others as well as WWW sites devoted to Windows
which will no doubt have dealt wit hyour problem in the past. Use a good
search engine or install one on your PC and use that, something like
Webferret should do the trick.

Personally I think you might need Partition Magic which IIRC does all
this automatically for you, although I confess do not speak from
personal experience.

Cheers

M.

Both are good, I think. I prefer SuSE, but RedHat users will tell you the
same. SuSE 7.0 comes with all actual stuff: kernel 2.2.16, XFree4.0, KDE2
beta, and and .. be sure to go to the SuSE ftp server to get the latest
updates. XFree should be updated to 4.01, for instance. Perhaps it would be
good to start with SuSE 6.4, thats more stable, get some experience and
update to 7.1, when it comes.

Subject: Linux print server and printing to a NC-2110h jetdirect card dilemma
Date: Thu, 28 Sep 2000 13:57:06 GMT

I have a bunch of Brother HL-1660e printers with Brother NC-2110h
jetdirect cards installed. I am trying to get a Redhat 6.1 print
server to print to at least one. I have set up a HP LJ5, 4050N, and
two 300x external print servers without a problem, but these are just
a pain.

If I print to one of them and do an LPQ I get:
Rank Owner Job Files Total Size
1st root 1 Blah 11 bytes

no entries

Then a couple of minutes later another LPQ gets:

Rank Owner Job Files Total
Size
0 bytes

1 entry

if I do an lpc status on it I get:
MBM_ACCTHL1660E:
        queuing is enabled
        printing is enabled
        1 entry in spool area
        sending to MBM_ACCTHL1660E

Now a couple of hours later I will get a printout.
Any ideas??

here is my printcap file:
MBM_ACCTHL1660E:\
        :lp=:\
        :rm=MBM_ACCTHL1660E:\
        :rp=BRO_03387D_P1:\
        :sd=/var/spool/lpd/MBM_ACCTHL1660E:
According to the configuration printout from the printer BRO_03387D_P1
is a real service.

I am almost to the point of selling these network cards which are
worth $689 a piece and getting some of the HP 300X external print
servers which work wonderfully.

Any help will be welcomed extremely!!!
You can email me at christ at mbm dash law dot com or reply here as I

I downloaded the files in binary mode, the reported file sizes matched
yours, and I got the same, but incorrect md5sum after each download. I
was downloading the images from a server here at Penn State, and it
turns out that there was some kind of problem with the FTP server
configuration (not sure exactly what the problem was) that was causing
the problems. It was fixed overnight, and I am currently burning
(hopefully) correct versions of the iso images.
