I use linuxconf to connect PPP successfully. How to prevent it from
automatically re-connect when the line is hung up? Thanks.

Yes, that's a problem. The default RH 6.2 kernel has "Disable CPUID"
compiled in, and AMD's T-Birds panic when they see that. So, you need a
different kernel to boot (a boot disk, loadlin), and then recompile your
main kernel without said option.

XFree86 4.0.1 has its own built-in fontserver and neither xfs or xfstt
(for truetype) is needed; however, look at your /etc/X11/XF86Config for
the loading of the font modules for the different fonts, e.g. truetype,
speedo, type1. The area is in the beginning as in Section "Module"; I
had a problem with Speedo until I added the Speedo module and then added
the TrueType module as well as changing the font path statements.

WP 8 didn't do well in 24 bit resolution in 3.3.x but now works quite well
in 24 bit mode even if it still won't xlate the "standard" RTF files from
word 2000 (older word versions work tho).

I recently upgraded to redhat 7.0 when rebooting i found a ugly-as-can-be
graphic redhat boot prompt instead of the usual "lilo boot:"

the displayed image is stored in /boot/message

question1: how can i get rid of that logo and have the old-style lilo

question2: what format is the logo file? the file command identifies
/boot/message (correctly) as "data", but I chan view (ee, gqview) and edit

So did I but the graphic was kool. Edit /etc/lilo.conf
and comment out the 'message=/boot/message' line. Save,
rerun lilo and reboot.

There is a driver available here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/pnm2ppa/

They have done a pretty good job too. There are rpms available of which you
will need the pnm2ppa package as well as the modified print filters.

No, it does not work.

Here is what I do

being in root,
first I create a folder
        mkdir /mnt/floppy2
second I mount the drive
        mount -t auto/dev/fd1 /mnt/floppy2

when I check from the GUI the folder floppy2 is there but empty, ame problem
from the terminal.

I have the same problem when I try to mount my zip drive (mkdir /mnt/zip,
and then mount -t auto/dev/hdc4 /mnt/zip).

Thanks for your help

Put a space between auto and /de/fd1. (Unfortunately I can't check /dev/fd1
since I don't have access to any ocmputer with two floppy drives.)

After mounting, just do a "df" to see if it was mounted.

Again, did you put a space between auto and /dev/hdc4? Also, /dev/hdc4
has to do with an IDE disk. Does the zip drive use the IDE disk naming
scheme? (I do not use this, so I ask.)

'no' is no general command. I guess, either configure made faults when
producing this Makefile or xchat should provide that command itself.

'po/'-directory is usually 'native language support'.

configure often has a switch '--disable-nls' to get rid of that.

If there's ever no such configure option, i'd try to switch off
compiling in that directory (if i couldn't find out more from the
'configure' script itself and the according 'Makefile.in', the Makefile
prototype for configure)

 - Removing the directory from the list in the Makefile in the parent
directory (which calls this Makefile). Usually there's a variable
   named like 'SUBDIRS'.
 - or making the 'all:' target empty, in po/Makefile

A bug report to the maintainer of xchat would help both sides, too.

I guess every RH7.0 user has.

AFAIK its got something to do wirth the new gcc (etc) version.

uninstalling the mysterious kgcc rpm and replacing the kernel source rpm
with a tarball version helpes a bit.
You still get warnings but the kernel compiles and runs.

You may want to search freshmeat.net for "installwatch". It makes
