Hi i am trying to set up virtual email domains on RedHat 6.2. I added the
domains to dns and then configured the virtual domains under sendmail. I've
also assigned alias ip's. I can ping the mail domain but when I try to log
in I get bad login password rejected. I know I am using the correct
password can anyone help me??

I'm running Apache 1.3.12 under Red Hat Linux 6.2.
For some reason, every entry in access_log appears twice.
That's not true for error_log entries.
Any idea why this happens?

Hello everyone.
I was hoping that I could get some help with configuring my SB Live Value II
card with Mandrake Linux 7.1. From what I see it work automatically for
most people, but not for me.
My sound card is automatically recognized by linux but the sound doesn't
work. I tried installing the latest driver modules from Open Source
Creative and it still doesn't work. Upon linux bootup or during any attempt
to play or configure my sound card with DrakConf I get a message indicating
that the emu10k1 module/resource is busy or something else that I can't
remember right now.
Has anyone had this problem? Can anyone make suggestions as to how I can
get my soundcard to work?
BTW, my sound card works well in Windows with no faults at all.
Thanks,
Donald

Okay, if you put in a audio CD and explore to
/mnt/cdrom
it says input/output error, even though I can browse a data CD fine
and I can use the CD player to play the CD. Why is that and is there
anyway to explore it??
Thanks!

With little editing of both lilo.conf you can have the two LILO's waltzing
together till the end of time. Try it it is fun, just make sure that you
have a booting diskette when the fun gets boring.
On more serious note: The second LILO does not need to display any menu or
have a waiting period, as its ONLY function is to activate the relevant OS
which evidently was chosen after careful deliberation during the menu of
first LILO. And it does not need any choices either, any reboot will present
the menu of primary LILO.
Have fun.

I had a similar problem with the same system and Linux distro/version.
For some unknown reason, the Mandrake 7.1 installation didn't resize the
Windows partition properly on my 12GB drive, so the Windows and Linux
partitions ended up overlapping. When the disk defragmenter ran
automagically every Friday morning, Windows would take back about 200 MB
from the Linux partition. Can you say "Kiss your Linux good-bye"?
Anyway, Partition Magic 5.0 detected the problem immediatley when I ran
it, so I had it delete the Linux partitions, fix the Windows one, and
then recreate the Linux partitions. No more problems after the
re-install (although admittedly I didn't boot into Linux after this
morning's disk defrag... :-).
My advice is to always use a *real* partition utility when playing
around with your hard drive; the versions incorporated as subsystems of
complex installation programs should be avoided if possible. Sometimes
it's better to use a program that does one thing *really well* than one
that does many things half-assed.
Good luck with your Linux re-install.

Ummm, to answer my own question: there were two entries
for access_log in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf, one for the domain,
another for "CustomLog". Commenting out the latter one results
in no duplicates.
The existence of these two entries is not evident when setting up
Apache from linuxconf.
Sorry for the gratuitous post.

Subject: LILO append string for ATA 66 ???
Date: Sun, 22 Oct 2000 02:32:43 GMT
Can someone tell me the full append string in /etc/lilo.conf to be able
to access _all_ drives connected to an add-on ATA 66 controller card, i.e.,
ide2 and ide3? I had this in my notes somewhere but darned if I can
find it.
I originally had only one drive connected to ide2 (primary master) and
am using:
append="ide2=0x1440"
which works fine for that one drive.
Here are the addresses grepped from /proc/ioports:
0170-0177 : ide1
01f0-01f7 : ide0
0376-0376 : ide1
03f6-03f6 : ide0
10c0-10c7 : ide2
10c8-10cf : ide3
1420-1427 : ide0
1428-142f : ide1
1432-1432 : ide3
1436-1436 : ide2
1438-143f : ide3
1440-1447 : ide2
I got the above using kernel 2.4.0 (which doesn't need an append string) but
want to also boot using kernel 2.2.14.
Thanks for your help.

Default gateway and proxy for browsers (KFM and Netscape) are
configured and work fine.
What is the protocole uses by up2date to connect to RH site ?

Take a look at the source code... in it I'm sure you'll find where the
kernel version is located.

make sure you read the kernel compiling instructions to the 'T'. Did
you do the 'make mrproper' before compiling, or a 'depmod -a'?

Hello,
I have a Sony SDT-5200 DDS2 DAT tape drive, scsi internal, RedHat
v6.2.
How do I make the drive available for use? I have tried a variety of
mount command options. The drive shows up in the device lists. The "st"
driver is loaded (according to lsmod). I have a rubber chicken hanging
over the computer.
The KDE archiver program claims there is no tape in the drive when I
try to mount it. I suspect the error message is bogus since there is a
tape and another OS has no trouble whatsoever using the drive, accessing
the tape, reading/writing the tape.
So. What's the magic formula?

Redhat Linux 7.0 CD fixed a lot of problems, I cannot format the last
20G of my 40G harddrive with RH6.0
Redhat Linux 7.0 broke Word Perfect 8, I cannot run or install Word
Perfect 8 on a brand new install of RH7.0
I installed libc-5.3.12-31.i386.rpm and ld.so-1.9.5-13.i386.rpm from
Redhat 6.2 CD and it now works.
I cannot use efax with fax as a entry in /etc/printcap in RH7.0, it
breaks all printing unless I remove the fax entry.
