If I understand you right, you want log messages from other machines
redirected to your machine? Check man syslog.conf and modify

Hi,
I have 2 questions:
1) How do I setup a (remote) printer queue on my RH 6.2 server (printing
on a 10mb NIC to a HP Jetdirect 170x)
2) I keep getting problems installing hpwebjet_linux.selfx. When I issue
the installation to start: './hpwebjet_linux.selfx' it does start. But
directly after the start it goes:
Extracting files:.
sh: ./hpwebjet_install: No such file or directory
Install script failed
I asked HP about this, and the 1st time they said 'follow the
procedures', which I already had done. Then they said there were
problems with the program itself so I had to download it once again,
which I did but with no result. Can somebody please help me? BTW, with
W95/W2k/Jetdirect 170x running HPJetadmin peer-to-peer everything works
fine. The problem is solely with the Linux-stations..since there's no
JetAdmin for Linux.
Thanks,
Huub

Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Hi all,
My machine is PentiumIII, 700MHz.
Windows 98 Second Edition is the O.S I am used to.
Hard disk capacity is 13 GB and it has
two FAT32 partitions hda1(C: capacity 7GB) and hda2 (D: capacity 2.5
GB).
Now th disk contains more than 3GB space.
Two days back I installed Red hat Linux 7 in the free space.
For this created a /boot partition of 60 MB (and it is within the limit
of
first 1023 cylinders.)
and a / partition of 1.6GB and a 500 MB of swap partition .
I am geting the dual boot option at start up and when choose linux it
will
goto Linux and I can do anything
in Linux.
But if I choose DOS at start up then my PROBLEM starts.
It will take more than 30 minutes to load Windows98. and I can't do
anything
after this.
If I do any mouse movement or try to execute a program the system
countinuesly read harddisk
( I mean the read indiactor LED). The operation is VERY VERY SLOW.
It is weared because most of my development work is based on Win98.
Can anybody direct me to solve this problem without removing Linux and
its
partitions.?
Is it due to FAT32?
PLEASE HELP.

Is it possible to install Debian Linux (or any other Linux Flavor) via

I know that it works with PPP but does it also work with PPPoEth?

Hello all,
I was playing around with different kernels and I made a boot disk
that works exactly the way I want it to... but by accident I did a
'make clean' on the linux source directory, so I can't remake it. Is
there anyway I can go from my boot disk (which I made using 'make
bzdisk') to a bzImage?

upgrade your kernel? You may have to look through the scripts to see if
certain files exist and parameters are set.

If you do remember the size of the bzImage file, you could do
dd if=/dev/fd0 of=/tmp/bzImage bs=1 count=<bzImage-size>
Else I guess you're stuck with make bzImage...

Sure. Samba does this for you. Look into smb.conf (probably in /etc or
/etc/samba) and the accompanying manual page ('man smb.conf').

You say the module is loaded? What does ifconfig say? route? dmesg?
Something interesting in the log? What module is actually loaded
(rtl8139, 8139too)?
What about the contents of /proc/net/dev? Any errors there? What kernel

Well, if you just did 'make clean' (as opposed to 'make distclean' or
'make mrproper'), the configuration should be intact. Thus you should
be able to just issue a 'make bzImage' to make a bzImage identical to
the first one.

As you have already been to http://netfilter.filewatcher.org/, you
know where to get the documentation. I think the apropiate HOWTOs
for you are the NAT-HOWTO and the Packet-filtering-HOWTO. NAT-HOWTO
section 4.1 deals with simple masquerading. From the docs, I gathered
