Thanks for the respose. I have already tried to add it to the
/etc/conf.modules file but I had it worded differently. I'll let you
know how it goes.

The most relevant information is, unfortunately, probably
just above what you've quoted here (and "kernal" is not a
directory that makes sense to me anyway).
_Cut and paste_ a bit more of the results.

Subject: NEED HELP... LILO Config with SCSI boot drives and IDE storage drives
Date: Mon, 29 Jan 2001 01:07:58 -0500
Hello,
This is my first time in this newsgroup, so if I'm asking a question that's
already been answered, I'd greatly appreciate direction to that post.
Thanks.
Otherwise, here's my situation:
I have WinMe, which as far as booting goes, I "believe" is the same as
Win98... please feel free to correct me if wrong. :-)
I want to install Linux-Mandrake 7.2 on my system.
All my OS's will reside on a ~9.0GB SCSI hard disk, ID0 in Adaptec's SCSI
setup
I have another identical SCSI hard disk, primarily for storage, which is set
at ID1 in SCSI setup
I also have a ~17GB IDE drive, which is used soley for data storage
I've tried, apperently unsucessfully, to use LILO to boot these OS's in
harmony.
All I can get is the first "LI" then a system hang, so I've been reverted
back to using fdisk /mbr to restore my MBR to allow booting in Me, but I
have to use a floppy to boot Linux.
If anyone with experience could help me out with this problem, I'd greatly
appreciate it. Thanks.

Subject: SO52 vs jre & xml
Hi all;
This probably isn't the right group, but I'm subscribed here so I get
answers automaticly, and it *is* a setup problem...
StarOffice5.2 can't seem to find *any* java runtime package I've
installed, and the docs that came with the latest IBM version don't seem
to have any batteries in them, at least for me the light stays dark.
I currently have /usr/local/java/classes, and both the latest jdk and
jre's installed, all in seperate directories, but so seems adamant in
its insistence that no runtime environment has been found.
Ideas on this one anyone?
Cheers, Gene

Subject: .XML docs, need to print them.
Hi all;
The new bind 9.1.0 has its main docs in .XML format. Is there any way I
can get it onto paper, preferably in duplex like acrobat4 can do for
.pdf's?
I tried doing a search for 'xml' on freshmeat and got nearly 300 hits,
but scanning that list didn't make me pick out the right 'interpreter'
for XML.
Is there a prefered convertor/print tool for this?
Cheers, Gene

Neither does anything. Harddrake just starts mouseconfig, which
does nothing. Nor does running xf86config...
Perhaps it removed a link somewhere...?

This I had done from before. The only package that I could not properly

I have setup pppd in my inittab and I am forwarding port 80 with
ipchains.
The port does not get forwarded and I traced it to the pppd never
exiting and running ip-up.
I can run ip-up by hand and get it running, but what is wrong with my
pppd?

There is a driver for those cards included within the standard kernel
distribtion, the 3c59x driver. However this driver does have known
timing problems within Linux 2.4.0. A patch is integrated into the
current 2.4.1-pre-patch and will be part of 2.4.1.
Wether 3Com updates its driver (called 3c905) for Linux 2.4 should be
there own problem. You however can try to ask the support - the masses
may move it - or port it yourself and send them the Changes made.
