To all,
Everytime I try to load my firewall, I get a messase that says
Unresolved Symbols in /lib/modules/2.2.16-3/misc/emul10k1.o. I
recompiled my kernel again. I get the same result. I am running
ipchains 1.3.9-5. Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve?

That's hardware raid, not software raid. But I see what you mean .. you
want to take the disks of a hardware raid set, mount them under an
ordinary controller, and then combine them using linux software raid
(why don't you SAAAAAAY so?).
This depends entirely on whether or not the hpt370 formats them
specially or not, and what kind of raid type it is. I would
imagine that yes it does format them specially, and no, you will
not be able to reuse that format under linux software raid. But suck it
and see.

I have been irritated by not having gpm running my mouse properly,
and I was playing around with its settings the other day. When I
booted this morning I got kudzu telling me that my Serial mouse had
been removed, or something like that, and I accidentally hit "Remove
Configuration" instead of 'Do Nothing". Now I have no mouse! Running
'mouseconfig' does nothing. I've checked my etc/sysconfig/hwconf file
and there's nothing to do with a mouse in there. All my mouse
settings are still in XF86Config and XF86Config-4...
How on Earth do I get it going again? I'm running Mdk 7.2, the
mouse is a MS IntelliMouse 1.1A Serial Compatible.
Had to post this again because a crappy phone line has kept me

right here is ur problem. The kernel is trying to disable the CPU
serial number that PIII chips have. The actual problem though is that u
don't have a PIII. U have an AMD Athlon so disabling what doesn't exist
causes a problem.
I do not know of the LILO switch to use but someone had this same
problem only a few days ago. Searching this or another newsgroup (forget
which one I saw the other post in) should yield the LILO switch u need
to use in order to reach a prompt and recompile your kernel.

Check if your NT box's IP address is listed in /etc/hosts on the RH7 box
along with a name. If not any trial to contact the RH7 box by services
provided by (x)inetd may take 4 minutes for the reverse lookup
(converting IP number into name via domain name services) timeout.

I recently picked up a Stinkpad 755CD (Pentium 75, 40 meg ram, 800 meg
HD + RedHat linux 7.0). It also came with a DOCK II (Model 9545, I think).
Anyways, if I boot with the 2.4 kernel, it will find the ISA ethernet
card(NE compatable) and it works. The problem is that it won't allow me to
undock the laptop, w/o rebooting and choosing the 2.2 kernel that came with
RedHat(I can undock when using this kernel). Could someone tell me how I
could tell linux to stop linux from even knowing that it's there? I've
tried shutting down all the kernel modules, and that wasn't enough to let me
undock the laptop. Anyone know how I can get around this?
Thanks,

Kevin,
http://mandrakeuser.org/hardware/hbits5.html
The above link should give you the procedure to do that.
I just want to add that
1) you have to create a boot disk, just in case
2) Use GRUB instead of LILO. I have problems using LILO with
WinME on the 1st ATA100 (IBM 45 GB) and ML7.2 on the 2nd ATA100
(Quantum 40GB).
3) If you want to go to 2.4 instead of just updating ide with Hendrick's
patch, then the list of config listed for 2.4 is missing the support for
the Promise ATA100:
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_PDC202XX=y
Hope this helps.
I am running ME and 2.4.1 (Linux Mandrake) on my A7V Atholon 1GHz Bios
1005c, and both OS are stable.
Hope this helps,

Let me try it again.
it's not Ncurser
it's not Ncursers
it's ncurses
(Please note the differences!)
Linux is case sensitive, and even more obviously, requires good
spelling.

Please watch your SPELLING. That is "ncurses".
You have to work harder to convice me that you are correct, because the
only evidence you have presented says that it is not installed. What is
the basis for your opinion? Can you show us the package list of the
ncurses installation on your machine - the headers and libraries only -
and also the reults of an ls -l against that list?
If you find that the two lists coincide, then indeed ncurses is
installed. But until then, I'll bet that it is not.

SOund card support is compiled in, as well as pcm-oss and pch Intel

complain that it cannot find the modules sound-plot-0, sound-service-0-6
and snd-card-intel8x0 Any ideas anyone ?

try proFTPd . It has an apache-style configuration file which lands
in /etc/proFTPd.conf or so (when compiling it all for yourself, it will
land
in /usr/etc/)
This configuration file is very easily editable, and has a lot of
comments,
and you only have to outcomment the anonymous-section to make it work.
To restrict the user access to a limited group, you have to use the
files
ftpaccess, ftpdeny or so (I don#t remember their name exactly).
Try man ftpaccess or so. Here you can define the users which will have
access
to the user-ftp.
Then you have only to change in /etc/inetd.conf the ftp-line from
in.ftpd or wu.FTPd to in.proftpd (check the name in /usr/sbin or /sbin)
