Yeah I figured I'd get that response... [grin]

But to be fair - I removed it to have my other (bigger/faster) machine be my
primary dedicated Linux box - rather than putzing with a dual boot system.

I found the answer to my question anyway - the age old:

fdisk /mbr

What do you have your "screen" set to - single or multiple?
I believe in "broadcast" it must be single.
Like let the Linux box control window management.

Hope this helps.

Bad, blame Shamrock for this...

I'm to lazy to check it out again but if I remember right there was some info
(not all) what it was capable of, in one of the two URL google found, check
what other monitors from this time could do and choose something similar, start
ultraconservative and test what this Shamrock can deliver, perhaps xvidtune can
help you...

Good luck

I want to set chroot in my proftp service.

There are 2 users who can use ftp.

  Username Groupname Homedir
  lacrimosa wheel /home/lcrimosa
  ani ani /home/ani

so I configured proftpd.conf file as...

 DefaultRoot ~ wheel,users,ani

I think user's home directory(/home/ani) supposed to be the highist
path(/)...

But someone is connected, he can change directory up by command "cd .."
or "cd /etc",
which means he can get my private or system file as /etc/passwd by
using ftp account.

 The chroot isn't set!!!

 Please Help me~~

You need to run imwheel also.

If you are running gnome then add imwheel to the startup applications and
you should be fine.

I just installed Mandrake 6.1 and I had almost the same problem. When I
don't use a boot disk, a bunch of 10101010101010101010 get painted all over
the screen instead of loading Linux. I tried putting the "linear" line in
the lilo.conf file but it didn't seem to help. (I didn't try "-v",
though). As you can see I am a novice!

So, I'll try going through the steps again and see if that'll work.
Meantime, does anyone know why I get all these 1010101010s???

Also, Aranwen, I think Eric was telling you to put the line: "lba32" for
the second line of your lilo.conf file (INSTEAD of linear).

Ok, here we go,

I have a spare AMD K6-300 computer which I wish to turn it into a full
Linux system. I have a WD 2.5 Gig HD on the computer which originally had
Win95 on it. I formatted the whole drive making it clean. I then used
Mandrakes Red Hat 6.0 Linux boot disk and ran the installation program. I
chosed to use Disk Druid to partition my hardrive. I created a 2.4 Gig
Native Linux root partition and a 100 meg swap partition. When I finish the
configuration, the program gave me an error saying "Error reading partition
table for the block device hda: No such file or directory". It forced me to
reboot and I tried running both Disk Druid and Linux fdisk, but both gave
me the same error, even before they allowed me to setup the partitions
like my first time. I rebooted with a win95 statup disk in hopes of
recreating the partitions in Win95 fdisk, but it gave me a error also "no
hardrive found" and gives me three posibilites, a virus, a third party
partitioning program, hd is damaged, but yet BIOS detects it fine. I have
no C drive and cannot fdisk it in Win95 or Linux nor format anything.
Please help, I would hate to trash a good hard drive.

Thanks!

What's wrong with "Xconfigurator?" It's an ncurses based
configuration utility that should already be on your RH system.
