Newsbytes: Linux.com Web Site Goes Live
"The company that beat out major technology players for the coveted
Linux.com domain name launched the site Tuesday, pledging to maintain a "by
the people" property for anyone interested in the open-source operating
system."
"VA Linux Systems, the privately held systems and software provider that
bought the Linux.com name earlier this year, wants the Web site to take on
four main roles, said Brian Biles, the company's vice president of
marketing. They are: a tool for computer users wanting to optimize their
Linux system's performance; a live discussion facility for Linux user
groups; a news database on open-source operating systems; and an index for
Linux tuning information.
"There's room for a good Linux portal, and that's what
we want to build," Biles told Newsbytes."
