Di Networking overview howto, dibilang :
"6.8. NIS
The Network Information Service (NIS) provides a simple network lookup
service consisting of databases and processes. Its purpose is to provide
information, that has to be known throughout the network, to all
machines on the network. It allows for example that one person could log
on in any machine in the network running NIS without the need for the
adinistrator to add a password entry for him in all the machines, only
in the main database."
Jadi aku pikir mirip.
Jadi nanya nih:
1. Apa di NIS, tiap orang harus login ke localhost dulu?
2. Gimana cara saya mengakses resource di 10 komputer lain?
Apakah saya harus login ke 10 komputer itu?

3. Jadi, apakah user/password database dicopy ke client?
Setauku, hanya ada di NIS server. Jadi, kalau user login, mesti ke sana.
Aku pikir, ini namanya "di-autentifikasi oleh NIS server".
Salah ya?

1. User login
2. Masuk ke security manager local
3. Dilempar ke security manager Domain controller
4. OK ndak OK, dikasih tau ke security manager local
5. Kaloq OK, Jalanin user profile & logon script
6. Login success/unsuccess.
