- tar source code 2.4.2 di /usr/src
- masuk ke /usr/src/linux
- make mrproper
- make menuconfig ( sesuai dengan hardware dan
kebutuhan)
- make dep
- make zImage atau bzImage
- make modules
back up kernel lama di /boot
- make modulesinstall
- cp /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/bzImage
/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.2
-edit /etc/lilo.conf
tambah kan image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.2
label=linux-baru
read-only
root=/dev/hda?
- depmod -a
- ketik lilo
-reboot
