I wanted to report success in setting up a dual 450 mHz Xeon system using a ASUS
XG-DLS mainboard. I have never had such a stable system:-) Not one sig11 in all
of the kernel builds I have performed.
The board has 5 pci slots, an onboard two channel (=> 30 devices??) SCSI
controller and an onboard 100 mHz ethernet controller. the SCSI controller is
supported by the 2.2.1 Adaptec AIC7xxx support. The Ethernet is supported by
the EtherExpressPro/100 driver.
Needless to say the system is fast. A single precisiion FFT (executing on a
single processor) of a 512x512 image takes 0.11 seconds. My 266mHz pentium II
performs the same calculation in .38 seconds. Sorry for the non standard
benchmark. I tried to run Linpack, but the machine was too fast. I got INF
because of divide by zero (the clock hadn't had time to tick).
