Hi,

I have a Tyan Tomcat IV that is exhibiting a rather serious drift in the
clock. I've been experiencing it with most of the 2.1.* kernels and I
currently have observed this with 2.2.2.
I recently became aware of the hwclock utility and I compared the output
from date to the output from hwclock:
[modulus@orpheus ~]$ date
Mon Mar 1 06:36:30 EST 1999
[modulus@orpheus ~]$ /sbin/hwclock -D
Using /dev/rtc interface to clock.
Waiting for clock tick...
...got clock tick
Time read from Hardware Clock: 06:13:14
Hw clock time : 06:13:14 = 920286794 seconds since 1969
Mon Mar 1 06:13:14 1999 -0.903999 seconds
[modulus@orpheus ~]$ uptime
  6:38am up 23:32, 11 users, load average: 2.14, 2.16, 2.10

As you can see, there is a significant drift after only 23 hours of
uptime.

are there others that are experiencing this effect?

Martin
