Hi Y'all, I'm quite concerned by the recent thread on problems with changing the __PAGE_OFFSET define to allow more than 1GB-epsilon. The trade off seems to be that if you have 2GB in your machine, then any one process cannot address more than 2GB. Similarly, with 3GB, only 1GB processes are allowed. Am I right in thinking that buying a Linux box with 4GB would be a waste? How about these eight-way Xeon 8GB machines?
