Hi there!
We've been testing Linux-2.1.x kernels for almost one year now and
noticed some problems with 128,129 & 130 ... the memory resources shrink
slowly over many days uptime until they are fully used up (including
swap). "free" reports a large amount of shared memory (for example 350MB
on a 512MB system ... if I sum up the memory usage reported by ps I get
a total amount of 200MB for the running tasks)
The problem seems to have disappeared with kernel 2.1.131 ... but
unfortunately we have other problems now. GIMP crashes regulary while
working on huge pics (30MB or larger), the NIS service crashes EVERY
night :( (debugmode produced GDBM read error) ... seems as if the memory
management is a bit messed up. I downgraded to 2.1.125 again (which was
a nice one ...)
Is anyone interested in debuginfo/problems/solutions related to the new
kernel NFS-Server in a heterogenous network environment (SGI,SUN,Linux)
???
