all don't run that hot.  I have IBM 9 gig 10K rpm u2scsi drives
in my machine and they are barely warm after banging them for
hours.  They do have heat sinks, and this Intel SC450NX has some
nice foam ducting to direct air over them.  But they are not even
hot to the touch...  

and boy can they transfer data...
