BIOS are always dazed and confused. Have you looked at your new BIOS to see if
there were any new options other than the one you had mentioned? There may
have been other options over written in your BIOS, or reset that you may need
to change.
Whe I flashed my BIOS a whole lot of things had changed in it (I have a TYAN
Tomcat IV). I have a bunch of option sin my BIOS that are not in the manual
that came with the MB, along with things taht are in the manual that are not in
my BIOS.

I thought that 1.4 was a stricter version of 1.1, so it really doesn't matter.
I have the same issue. I had set mine to 1.4 and Linux used 1.1 then I read
somewhere that 1.4 was a stricter 1.1. I set it back to 1.1.
