I wrote earlier under the subject "I had several problems installing Red
Hat 6 on a Digital Prioris 5600DP." (Pardon the typo the machine is a
Prioris XL 5166DP). Since then it seems pretty clear the suggestions to
make and install the kernel without Red Hat's automated installation
assistance were the best suggestions. Thanks all for the help that has been
provided so quickly (and accurately.)
FYI:
The Custom option works fine.
Attempts to automatically partition with Server or Workstation options
consistently fail.
Expert mode only works if I lie and say there are multiple SCSI controllers
on the machine. If I don't then expert mode will not mount the CD ROM. It
says looking for a block mode device and jumps back to controller type.
Upgrading to the new boot disk image released (May 29) doesn't seem to make
any difference with this system.
