Sorry i'm not exactly sure how to go about a bug report.  So please don't
flame me. (please reply to me directly, awaiting list subscription)

The problem is when we compile the kernel with 686 optomisastions for our
dual pii 400 system, the
process's that access the hard disk start to lock out, you can't send any
signal to kill them.  We played a bit
and re-compiled it as 486 optomised, and it's been stable ever since.  I can
arange to demonstrate it messing up
for a brief period if anyone wants to see it.
